ALC Advogados has been nominated for the 2026 Global Competition Review (GCR) Awards in the category “Merger Control Matter of the Year – APMEA (Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa)” for the Groupe Canal+/MultiChoice transaction.
This nomination recognises the work carried out by ALC in one of the most significant merger control matters in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) region.
The acquisition by Canal+ of Multichoice was a complex and challenging transaction, subject to merger control and regulatory filings in multiple jurisdictions across Africa, including in Angola and Mozambique. The team was lead by Morais Leitão Partner Pedro Gouveia e Melo, together with Catarina Levy Osório (Managing Partner of ALC Advogados) and Tiago Arouca Mendes (Managing Partner of MDR Advogados), assisted by Associate Beatriz Lopes da Silva.
The GCR Awards honour each year the most significant matters, teams and initiatives in the field of Competition Law worldwide and are regarded as one of the leading international benchmarks in this area.
The awards ceremony will take place on 24 March 2026 in Washington, DC, on the eve of the ABA Spring Meeting, an event that brings together leading competition law firms and practitioners from around the world.
